TRAVELING PETTING ZOO
It’s the zoo that comes to you!

We offer a unique Petting Zoo consisting of our own personal pets, carefully selected as babies and raised by our family in a very loving environment. Thus resulting in the most unique personalities. All our petting zoo animals are extremely gentle, sweet and docile and very much enjoy human contact.

Our animals receive the best of care, both at home and on the job. They receive a thorough examination and inoculations yearly by a licensed veterinarian. They are free of parasites, and have no horns for the sole purpose of your child’s health and safety.

The animals are set up in “animal stations” to provide the segregation of the smaller and larger species, as well as providing organization to your event. We attend the petting zoo at all times. Our first priority is to keep a clean environment, discarding of waste as needed. Our second is to interact with the children, teaching them how to pick up and handle the animals properly, as well as to share educational information as we follow their lead. It is likened to more or a petting zoo enrichment program.

For the perfect balance, our combination package is available, which includes both the Petting Zoo and Pony Rides. They are performed simultaneously. Choosing this package makes your child’s birthday complete. With both the variety of animals to pet and cuddle, and a beautiful fancy pony to ride, this is sure to be your child’s most treasured memory.

We are family owned and operated and are regulated at the federal, state and city level and are licensed by the USDA. We also have liability insurance provided through The Farm Bureau.

We offer both weekday and week end bookings. On Saturday and Sunday, both 11:00 and 2:30 time slots are offered (can be flexible) and either late afternoon or early evenings as well. Once the one-hour minimum has been met, you are free to book more time in as little as half hour increments there after. Weekday and evening bookings are also available.

THE BABY PETTING ZOO

The Baby Petting Zoo is comprised of a variety of barnyard animals, ranging from:

1-2 goats
1-2 lambs
Bunnies
Chicks
Ducklings (seasonal)
Mini pot bellied piglet

THE LARGE PETTING ZOO

The Large Petting Zoo requires a minimum booking of two hours. This Zoo includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following:

Miniature donkey
Miniature horse
Miniature pot bellied piglet
Llama
1-2 goats
1-2 lambs
And sometimes more depending upon availability

This Petting Zoo is offered in our “event set up” and is perfect for events or parties which have a large volume of people attending, or for events or parties that desire more of a barnyard exotic twist. The Petting Zoo is always attended and supervised by experienced animal handlers.

DAYCARES * SCHOOLS * LIBRARIES

Animal Affair offers a wonderful enrichment program to daycares, schools and libraries via our interactive Petting Zoo. We offer a menagerie of barnyard baby animals that are hand-raised and socialized with children in mind. They are presented in a safe environment to insure the best possible hands-on experience. Assisted by a qualified animal handler, the children will learn how to properly pick up and handle the animals, as well as other information pertaining to animal education. This is done casually, as we take the lead of the child, recognizing each child as an individual. We pride ourselves on patience as we share our love for animals with them, hoping to develop an already existing love into a time of further discovery. For those who may have not yet had the opportunity for such a discovery, this is a wonderful way in which to expose them.

This Petting Zoo Program lends itself to many other opportunities as well, fitting into many different themes being taught, summer reading programs, as a draw to raise money during fundraising events, special school events, or as therapy in special needs situations.

We offer our services year round. We can set up the Petting Zoo inside or out. During the winter months or in in climate weather we are still available due to this.

Our animals receive a certificate of health and inoculations from a licensed veterinarian yearly. We are regulated at a federal, city and state level and are licensed by the USDA. We carry liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance if required. For a list of animals, please refer to the Birthday Party section.

EGG INCUBATION PROGRAM

This study is based on the Life Cycle of the Chicken, and comes complete with curriculum and corresponding teacher guide. Also provided are reproducibles, a list of activities, projects, arts and crafts, experiments and observational projects, games and a library of chicken and farm related books. Each part of the curriculum is supported by a corresponding activity/project.

This is a two-phase program. The first phase is the incubation period. The incubator, egg turner and eggs are provided and set up for you. The automatic egg turner allows you the freedom from responsibility, enabling you t focus on the curriculum. And there is no need to come in over the weekend to turn them either. The only responsibility you will have is to occasionally add water, which will be explained to you when it is set up.

The second phase is the brooder phase. The brooder kit is also provided and comes with cage, heat lamp, grain, hay, shavings, grain feeder and water font, etc…This phase takes place once the chicks are hatched and dried, and continues into the first or second week of the Life Cycle. At which time the chicks, equipment and materials are taken back. The chicks are then ready to continue their Life Cycle on the farm.

This program is very adaptable, providing fun, hands-on education for all ages. It allows you to decide to what degree you wish to expound on. You can keep it simple or embellish on any of the desired subjects. The curriculum is very user friendly. It’s designed to alleviate the burdensome preparation that can be associated with themed education. It is set up in an outline format, and so is the corresponding teacher guide. The teacher guide suggests the initiation of related discussions for each particular part of the curriculum and points you to various projects, activities, games, art & crafts and more.

Children will be excited as they candle the eggs and follow the development of the embryo, watching it grow before their eyes. Thus enabling them to feel a close association to the chicks when they are hatched. And how amazed they will be to hear the chicks peeping in their shells, only hours before they are hatched. What a feeling of nurturing as they help feed and care for them, or as they hold them close to their heart. What an awesome experience, one that will be remembered forever.

THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS~ for Special Needs

We are very proud to offer specialized animal therapy with our specially raised Petting Zoo animals. Through our own trials and tribulations, we have personally discovered the therapeutic benefits of animals. Every one talks about it, but not everyone experiences it. It is truly a phenomenon. Animals seem to possess the ability to sense things that are beyond the human conception. They are able to love unconditionally despite appearances, intelligence or ones abilities, or lack there of. Animals seem to have the ability to venture deep into the world of a special needs child or adult and communicate at a level that we cannot comprehend or sometimes even see.

We provide special animals fop special people. Our animals have known nothing but love and kindness and reciprocate the same. Our program will encourage and uplift the lives of those involved. LIVE ANIMAL NATIVITIES

We proudly offer our animals during the Christmas season in observation and celebration of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ’s birth, as well as other religious holidays. Available both inside and out.

MINIATURE PETTING ZOO PROJECT…It’s the zoo that comes to you!

Rent a miniature Petting Zoo for a few days to be enjoyed at your location. What an experience!!

This is a great family project or great for a neighborhood co-op project, scouts, homeschoolers, schools, daycares, camp ground, camp program or as a SPECIAL BIRTHDAY GIFT.

This unique Petting Zoo Project provides your child with a hands-on, educational experience that will be unforgettable. A baby goat, bunnies, chicks and ducklings (seasonal) will be provided, as well as the fencing, food and everything required to care for them. You will be pre-educated on both the simple care and handling of these animals as well as interesting facts about each species.

These animals are so small and do not need much space (& make very little mess), therefore almost everyone is equipped and able to do the project, although they must qualify.
