Elizabeth Sheldon International Dance Group is filled with energy, class, and its powerful performance. We have colourful costumes and various styles of rhythms and music. Our talented Prof dancers bring beauty, grace and exotic rhythms... we will take you on a journey to experience a creative production, which is capturing to our audience. Our unique show is a great idea to have at your next event, in our performance we also engarged with audience particapation so its fun for everyone. We have perform in venues such as weddings, private parties, special events, corp parties, and more... We decide our show to fit your needs and create an excellent production.
BELLY DANCE
Many experts say belly dancing is the oldest form of dance, having roots in all ancient cultures and is recognized as a dance style of its own. Its apparent origins are the fertility cults of the ancient world.Through out history, belly dancing was a ritualized expression performed for women only, generally during fertility rites or for parties preparing a young woman for marriage. The dance was considered sacred and not to be seen by men at all.
Americans found themselves fascinated by belly dancing when the famous dancer "Little Egypt" performed at Chicago's World Fair in 1893. Soon after, belly dancing was featured in Hollywood, movies.
SAMBA DANCE
The Samba originates from Brazil. It was and is danced as a festival dance during the street festivals and celebrations. The music has an joyful contagious rhythm which makes even non- dancers want to get up and dance. In the late twenties, it was introduced in the U.S. in a Broadway play called "Sreet Carnival".
The rhythm, and unique style which brings the mood into what is called the "Samba Bounce", is very popular to this day.
MAMBO/ SALSA
Mambo/ Salsa is the Latin equivalent to swing. Perez Prado is thought tohave Introduced it an La Tropicana nightclub in Havana Cuba 1943. In more recent recent times mambo has also evolved into Salsa. Salsa is a street version of Mambo. In 1950, this dance was very popular and was taught in Dance Studios Resorts and nightclubs in NY and Miami. Mambo/ Salsa is fun, flirty and sexy, socially is a great dance to learn if you enjoy Latin music.
CHACHA
The chacha is the youngest of the "Latin" dances. It is believed to have started as a step in Mambo a triple step to replace the slow one to accommodate slower musical rhythms. The dance is alive, it is flashy, sassy and full of itself. Cha Cha is alot of fun!
