Cathy Bragg, Piano Artist & Teacher
Pianist Cathy has been in great demand all over Southern California for 19 years. She was a Nordstrom Pianist/Piano Manager for 13 years in Canoga Park, Ca. and Brea, Ca. She played weekly at the Summit House restaurant, Fullerton, Ca. and Rosa's Fine Italian Dining, Ontario. Ca. Music Therapy was also her love and she played weekly for an aging stroke patient. Her agents kept her busy with private engagements, hotels, corporate events, etc.
May 2005 Cathy moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she is currently a Nordstrom pianist at the Scottsdale and Chandler stores and plays private engagements and corporate events. Cathy Bragg began her love affair with piano at age 7. Her father, Robert Sistig, a violinist and teacher of many instruments, taught her piano 5 years before she went on to other private teachers. Cathy's mother, a singer, was also her inspiration. She would often say, "If you'll practice, I'll do your dishes." Cathy loved to play by ear but Dad insisted on the accuracy of the music! There was conflict, but Dad always won! Cathy's first cassette album, "As Time Goes By" has been very popular. Cathy says on that album I owe a lot to my parents who always encouraged me to do and be my best. I'm grateful that I can share these moments with you. My goal is create happiness for others through this God-given gift of music..... This album was designed to give you easy-listening background music-music for a dinner hour, music to soothe your "tired" nerves on the busy freeway... piano music to enjoy in your leisure moments. The songs recorded on "As Time Goes By" are: Misty / As Time Goes By / Moonglow / Chariots of Fire / Memory (from Cats) Canon in D (Pachelbel) / All I Ask Of You (Phantom of the Opera) / New York-New York / Send In The Clowns / Sound of Music medley / Somewhere In Time / Ode To Joy-Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring-Largo medley Cathy says:"I think you'll like the variety of selections. I had a lot of fun recording Chariots of Fire and All I Ask Of You on a dual-track tape with "four hands" on the keyboard. Cathy's creativity enabled her to be church pianist at age 10. At 13 she was accompanist for her father's church choirs. She married a minister and continued playing and teaching piano and organ. Cathy's second album, "Somewhere" she dedicated her children,Steve and Cherie. They helped select the songs for this "quiet mood" album. The songs recorded are: Somewhere/ Somewhere Over the Rainbow from "Westside Story" and "Wizard of Oz"/ Somewhere Out There from "An American Tale"/ Eighteenth Variation From Rapsodie on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninoff/ Castle on a Cloud/ I Dreamed a Dream from "Les Miserables"/ On Golden Pond, movie/ On My Own from Les Miserables/ The Phantom of the Opera from "The Phantom of the Opera"/ Theme from Dying Young, movie/ Two for the Road, movie/ Think of Me from "Phantom of the Opera"/ Unchained Melody from "Ghost".
